Rosemarie Durr

Throwing skills are key to all my designs. My pots are thrown finely and retain the energy and life that I instil in the making process.

Since settling in Kilkenny, almost 30 years ago, my work has been influenced not only by the beautiful landscape but by other makers in the locality. I embrace the growing artisan community that shares in my aspiration to create a better world that escapes the pull of fast consumerism and delights in the pursuit of passion, creativity and the handmade.

About Rosemarie Durr

Rosemarie Durr is based in Castlecomer Discovery Park, where she shares a studio/shop with her husband, ceramic artist Andrew Ludick.

She grew up in Roscommon and moved to Co. Kilkenny in 1994 where she completed the Grennan Mill Craft course and the DCCI Pottery Skills course.  Following on from that she worked as a production potter in Kiltrea Bridge and Badger Hill potteries in Co. Wexford.

In 2000 Rosemarie set up Rosemarie Durr Pottery in Castle Yard, Kilkenny. In 2004 she moved to Castlecomer Discovery Park where she makes wheel-thrown tableware and lifestyle pots using stoneware clay in a range of powder blues and warm white glazes. Her pottery is designed for everyday use.
