Eoghan Leadbetter
I started woodturning in 2015 when a friend loaned me a lathe. I quickly became consumed with the craft, spending all my spare time in my studio. Any money I made from the work that I sold I would spend on upgrading my tools and equipment and eventually, I invested in a lathe of my own.
I joined the Irish Woodturners Guild and attended meetings where I watched demonstrations and honed my technique and learned new methods. I was accepted into Made in Kilkenny in 2017 and I have taken part in all of their Arts Festival exhibitions ever since.
About Eoghan Leadbetter
Eoghan Leadbetter is a woodturner and furniture maker. From his studio in Stoneyford, Co. Kilkenny, he designs and creates a range of handcrafted sustainable wooden products which focus on form, finish and function.
Having grown up in the family-run Jerpoint Glass Studio, one of Ireland’s iconic designer–makers, you could say that craftsmanship is in his blood. However, woodturning is where he found his passion. All of the wood he uses is sourced locally from naturally wind-felled trees or from tree surgeons that have removed trees due to storm damage.
