Cushendale Woollen Mills
In the fast-paced modern world of consumerism, Cushendale exists as an oasis of “the way things used to be”, using traditional skills and practices to create lifelong sustainable pieces. Cushendale textiles are filled with time, passion and care from when the wool fibres first enter the mill to when the finished blanket reaches a loving home. The Cushendale Irish wool collection has a unique provenance of fleece to finished fabric, maintaining the strong bond between the wool grower and the woollen mill, creating a genuine and truly authentic Irish wool textile. The Cushendale design ethos very much comes from within, it is the visual representation of who we are and the sum of our experiences and those things we see in our lives which capture our imagination.
About Cushendale Woollen Mills
Cushendale is one of the last fully vertical woollen mills remaining in Ireland today and operates just as it did when first established as an abbey mill in the 13th century, still taking in locally grown Irish wool to colour, card, spin and weave. This truly rare ability of maintaining all stages of the process in-house under one roof creates a unique and complete oversight of each critical stage and ensures a quality standard now synonymous with the Cushendale brand, and a true provenance from fleece to finished fabric.
Today Cushendale is run by Philip and Miriam Cushen, fifth and sixth generations of the Cushen family.
